I have had zero luck, so i might end up creating a template. But my puddle lights rattle around in the mirror housing. i have had them out, the tabs that lock them in are weak. rather than mess with them i bought some eagle eye leds, and plan on mounting them flush with some stainless plate i have .
would be easiest if i could find a scale template for the recess in the bottom of the mirror. if anyone has one?

This was my original plan but I keep pushing it off. The plastic tabs that lock in always break off. So I figure a replica of the lens with a sheet of aluminum painted flat black with the Eagle eyes would work great.

But I have no template.
Wish I had the tools to make one.

Keep us posted if you beat me to it.

I'm not sure what the area looks like, but take a piece of paper and push it in and get the sides imprinted really good. Then cut some cardboard to that and test fit. If it needs trimmed or whatever, do that and then transfer to the aluminum.

Or, put some paint or something that will stay wet around the rim and then hold a piece of cardboard up to it to get the outline from the paint transfer.

The original piece is flat. Can easily be traced out for a perfect fit.

Then why worry about a template? I figured it was recessed or oddly shaped and couldn't be traced.

While you are at it, you could install a set of the logo projectors instead. Not as bright probably, but some people are into those, and the puddle lights would be a good location.

@cmc76 , if you end unmaking some, I'd be interested. I'd take 2 off your hands I hate that my puddle light lens isn't clear. Drives me insane. Want lenses that's are clear.

So after a few attempts cutting stainless. I quickly learned i did not have the right equipment to make those detail cuts. I turned to some thin plexiglass i had. I traced from the OEM light. cut with a scroll saw ( fyi larger teeth ) and had the blank shape.
Next came some trial and error with a file. I wanted it to fit as tight as possible. once i got that, i decided i will be screwing it into the tabs inside the mirror housing. only issue i am not sure about yet is the shape of the door might make it tricky to get the inside screw in. Here are some progress pictures. I just need to pick up a few things to finish up.lens shape.jpg

i got everything all soldered together and shrink wrapped. i need to either get the plugs that fit the factory wires, or harvest them off the oem lenses. once thats done i can install.
