I am getting ready to purchase either a suburban ltz, yukon xl denali or escalade esv. I was wondering if one year over the other (07 or 08) were more problematic. We are looking to have it totally loaded including the backup camera. We are looking to keep the miles under 75K. I am leaning more towards the 6.2L but that is only because it seems to have less problems with the engine / tranny compared to the 5.3 in the suburbans.

Any comments / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way, it will be for commuting the family around, not necessarily an every day driver.

I have an 07 Denali with the 6.2L. I love it. I've only had it a little over a month but I haven't read or seen anyone have any major issues with it. Typically first generation vehicles have issues which they work out the next year but GM seemed to get it right, well at least from my experience but maybe someone else may know better than I do. I know there was a recall on the windshield fluid heater. Mine doesn't work at all so the prior owner must have taken it in. But I live in Fl so its no big deal here.

I had an 08 Tahoe LTZ and now have an 07 escalade. Neither have been problematic for me. I think you'll be happy with any of those vehicles. If gas isn't an issue for you I would def go with the 6.2L as it is a huge step up from the 5.3L and well worth it.

I have an 07 and it's been good to me. It's now has over 100k and still purrs like the day we drove it off the lot.

Of course there have been problems but all small.

I have a 2007 Avalanche. Purchased it new in Jan. 07 with 1mile on her. I just started modding in the past 4 months or so, before that left her completely stock besides the front window tint (got it done within the first week). Last year right before Thanksgiving she had ~58K miles and the tranny started slipping. It got worse over about 3 days then kablooie! Called the dealer and found out I had 1 week till my powertrain warranty was expired. Luckily I got her repaired for free. Now after about 2K miles and the drop, everything has been great.

Ok

Thanks for replying. One more thing, do you guys feel that 75K is too high mileage for an 07 or 08 ? Or is she just starting to break in. Want it around atleast till she is payed off.

My 07 just went over 60k miles with no issues. I did a lot of looking and there were a ton of Tahoes/Yukons with 30-80k miles and the pricing wasn't as different as you would think. After 36k, you no longer have a warranty so the prices seem to drop considerably but stay pretty constant thereafter. I'm not saying a truck with 40k miles will be priced the same as one with 75k, all other things being equal, but it won't be huge. Conversely one with under 20k will be significantly more than ones well past the initial warranty. Just my observation as a recent buyer. I had a lot of trucks I was looking at from 30-70k miles from tahoes, Yukons and Escalades. the ones fully loaded were priced pretty closely with the same options. I found 2 tahoes with 30k miles each, LTZ model for $24 and $26k. got my Denali with 58k miles for $24k. Agreed to buy a fully loaded Escalade for $29k with 33k miles just to give you an idea.
