I bought some new lug nuts for my wheels that arent open ended. I feel like they are not deep enough to keep the wheels tight to the hub. Can i put some washers on the lugs first then the nuts?

If they are atleast 1.4" long like most closed end lugs are, then you will be fine!

Well I bought the kit from the zone. (the locking lug kind). I put the locking lug on and it literally pushed the center out of the lug nut and exposed the lug stud.... just doesnt seem too safe.

Are you sure you did not just overtorque?
If not, then that means those AutoZone lugs are cheap as hell, and you will ned a longer one.

they are cheap as hell i bought a set and did exactly the same thing they are junk and the locking lug nut bottoms out before its tight because its even a 1/4 inch shorter than the rest. i bought gorilla extended lugs and haven't had a problem since.

i bought them from a distributor here that deals directly to les schwab and all the major tire stores so i got them for 50 bucks with the key. les schwab wanted 106 after taxes. best and cheapest way would be to order them off of ebay probably for the best deal i was kinda in a time crunch and have connections so it worked out for me.
