You will get a little bit of rubbing at full lock with the 305's from what I understand

I have 305/40/22's on my factory 22's and there is zero rubbing. I know that's not always the case but thought I'd add that mine don't rub at all. OP, the sidewall is barely a bit thinner. The wider tire looks much better too.

thanks felix, yeah I agree that the wider tire looks better. I saw an esky a few weeks back with some wheels like in your signature and I noticed his tires looked pretty wide, wider than usual. I thought that looked nice. For the price @ $155 a tire seems like I should jump on it.

Yea it's a noticeable difference in width for sure especially when looking from the rear. As long as you don't get an aggressive tread pattern they won't rub. I got my 305/40/22 Nitto NT420S tires for under $900 mounted/balanced at discount tire this past December. No regrets. I'm definitely buying these tires again!!

The 285s cost more because it's an OEM size and many owners buy the exact replacement tire when theirs wear out.
Tire manufacturers aren't stupid.
I'm running 305/40/22 and get very minor rubbing.

Ok , I am looking at the Goodyear Fortera SL Edition. I have those right now but in a 285/45/22 they ride real nice

Eeek I just saw you're in Arizona ... I was going to suggest selling you my almost brand new 305/40 Forteras at a good price, but shipping kills the idea.

Looking at these 305s now because Jacob suggested it....

However seems to be "about the same price" now.

:(
