I have a clunk when I put the truck in reverse and drive but its worse in reverse. I notice it's not as bad if the truck is on a slight incline but it might be my imagination.

Anyway I want to replace ujoints and change the rear differential fluid. My question is do I have to do all of the u joints? I never use 4 wheel drive because it's a gas hog to begin with so I don't have to worry about anything in the front of the truck?

Im not familiar with all the drive train components on trucks this is the first one I owned. Im just trying to minimize work and money. So if I dont use 4x4 ever that means I don't have to worry about any drive train related parts like u joints in the front?

So I only need 2 u joints for the rear drive shaft correct? And I want to grease the slip yoke I read about does anyone have a write up or youtube video on how to do that?

thanks

The older they get, the more they clunk. As the miles get put on the ring and pinion wear and the backlash will get more and more, and the clunk will get worse and worse going from P to R or R to D. you also have the transfer case that will get lose and add to the slop in the drivetrain.
