question on code scanners

I see a lot of options for scanners and apps.
I like the real time data, but is it better to have the corded plug in or the Bluetooth?
also, these scanner apps, do they also clear stored codes, or just report them?

remember if you use ios, wifi is the better choice since Apple doesn't always play well with the Bluetooth readers
