Ok so i have a 2004 Z71 Tahoe, 135k miles. VERY VERY clean truck. Anyways I took it to the dealer to trade it in on a nnbs tahoe and they offered me 10k not a penny more. I was definately not expecting to hear that. I was hoping to get more like 14,500 or so. Am i just wanting too much or was the dealer trying to hose me?? Long story short i ended up just keeping my z71 and buying the NNBS hoe anyways. Now i cant decide if its worth trying to private party sell it or part it out. I kinda made a list of the parts and did some research on ebay and craigslist and added up to a much larger dollar ammount. I know it would take some time but is it worth it? anyone have some opinions before I make this decision.

I had an 04 Denali with <40k miles I traded in Spring 2009 for a used 09 Denali... my "trade in value" was about 12k, but I only ended up paying about 35k cash incl ttl (the 09 had <5k miles, completely decked out except for power side steps, was listed at 52k).

Parting out a car should always be a last option.
I say just private party sell it. Dealers have to low ball on trade ins to be able to make a profit off a car, plus charge whatever the local sales tax is without scaring off potential buyers.

This is where Toyota shines. Sold my 2003 4runner last year with 105k miles for $17k and I had multiple offers meaning I should've priced it higher. Cheaper to buy new to boot.

Thus is the reality of buying American.

Allright I guess I'm still torn on what to do. The tahoe had been my baby for the last 5 years and I have spent a lot of money on customizing it to my liking. I guess I will give Craigslist a shot for a bit and see if I get any interest, then I guess at last resort to part out.

Yeah definetely try CL and even Ebay as well, parting out a vehile sucks! When someone wants the wheels you are now on blocks, when someoen buys the door or tailgate now the interior is exposed to the elements, etc, etc. Unless you have a warehouse of some sort where it can be disassembled forget it! IMO this is not even an option.....Good Luck!

I would hope the OP is only parting out aftermarket parts and not OEM parts. Parting out is easy, as long as you kept the OEM parts (ie springs, wheels, bumpers, etc).

Dont want to argue but parting out is not easy......Even if you have no family and a flexible job with lots of spare time I wouldnt recommend it! Hundreds of emails with dozens of strangers coming to your home??? NO friggen way! SMH

But then again maybe you are rite and OP meant just aftermarket parts but I honestly dont think so. Anyway try selling it online, hold off for a few weeks then take the best offer and cut your loses (if any).

Again good luck with any route you choose!

I say put it on Craig's List as is. Parting out a modded vehicle sucks!
