so i put the trans i bought from a 96 2wd pick up in my tahoe, took it for a spin, everything shifted beautiful, today i took it to the gas station, and its shiftinghard into second, it doesnt wind out or anythign before it shifts and shifts exactly when its supposed to, i noticed that it also shifts into drive pretty hard, ive adjusted the idle, checked the motor mounts/trans mount, all the fluids are good, new tranny filter ,new seals, it shifts perfectly, but very hard into second, anyone have any ideas? im really hoping that the trans i just bought is bad, i just dont see what could be the prob, like i said its shifting right where it should, but hard into second, any info is much appreciated

Sometimes you can have debris in the cooling system and after it gets up to operating temp, it can dislodge from the radiator and move into the trans.

It is common practice to put an inline filter on the return line from the radiator for a few months after a transmission work. If your old tranny had a bunch of junk in the pan, that same “stuff” would be scattered through the radiator cooling system.

That may not be your problem, but if it started out shifting fine on day one, and started shifting hard the next day, it is a good possibility.

A good transmission tech would know where to look and could probably solve the problem by just dropping the pan. It might be worth a phone call to a tranny shop. :)

Corvette servo’s add speed and mechanical advantage to the shift. They are not always the best mod for a vehicle twice the weight.

The truck is already shifting hard, but for the wrong reason. Transmission pressure is supposed to be set by throttle position and or MAF signals. The idea is to only apply as much pressure as needed. At low throttle settings you should not be able to feel the shift and at WOT it should come close to chirping the tires on the 1/2 shift..........:)
