I know this may not be the right spot but it is general discussion to me. I have a transmission out of a 94 chevy 2500 and am trying to sell it. Problem is I have no idea what tranny it is. It is a turbo hydromatic, but I dont know if it is a 400 or what. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to tell. Thanks guys. I know the tranny is good and I think 200 dollars is a cheap price just to sell it, let me know if I am wrong.

If it is a turbo then it is a 400. Was the truck just a 3-speed or did it have overdrive if it did you may have the 4L80 cant remeber when they started using the od in 3/4 tons. My 400 was out of a 89 3/4 ton thing is tough as nails.

400 trans was 3 speed only you either have the 4L80 or 4L80e.
For a short period gm had a simplfied version of the electronics
on the trans before going to the vortec line in 96

Was that a turbo tranny, cause it does have a plate on the side that says turbo. I hope I am right about the 4 speed, but I am not sure. Is there any way I can get the numbers off of the tranny and get someone to run them to tell me for sure. And if its not the 400 turbo is the other tranny worht trying to sell?

A 4L80 is worth selling there should be numbers on the trans
main body that could be used to Id it. If it is a 400 there is a
market for it. Look up blueflamed see if he can help he has
pulleds numbers up for a member before. If it turns out to be a
4L80 let me know on a pm good luck.
