Hey guys I'm in the middle of installing my 5901 right now and it's going pretty well for the most part. This is only my second install but I did plenty of research beforehand. Well anyway, is it OK to lengthen the wires to the alarm? I would assume it's fine to lengthen the light gauge wires but is it OK to lengthen 4 of the heavy gauge remote start wires? I only need to lengthen them about 2 feet but I want to make sure I'm not going to stress the unit too much. Because I think I saw somewhere that you shouldn't lengthen these wires so I wanted to get an opinion on this. Thanks guys.

No problem in lengthening them, I did that in my ******'s remote start as I put the module in the truck. Just make sure you use the heavy wire like is on there.

If it's the antenna I would look for some sort of extension cable of the sort's, or just one custom made.

But I mean any of the other wires should work, I legthened most of them on my ******, but I got the box to wear the antenna would not have a problem reaching.

The tahoe's are a bit bigger, and when i get one and throw it in there i'll find out.

just wondering how big is that antenna cable on the 5901?

Should be plenty long(antenna), ive put them in a number of SUV's with no issue. On a side note placement is acutally pretty important of the antenna as ive noticed a considerable differance on left/right side of windsheild as apposed to the center.

The antenna on the 5901 is just under 10ft (119in).

Hmm. There's really a noticeable difference if the antenna's on the side of the windshield? I'm trying to do kind of a stealth install with the 5901 but without having the alarm mounted under the dash I don't think the antenna will reach the center of the windshield. It may reach but it would be really close. So I was planning on mounting the antenna on the side of the windshield but now am reconsidering. I may have to forgo the whole stealth install and just mount it under the dash. The range is more important to me than the hidden install, especially since the remote is paged if the alarm goes off.
