on customers trucks i get a wire brush disk for a drill and i clean off the rust then spray over it with rustoleum

No prep before paint ?
I'm sure it holds up in Cali or Florida sunny and dry weather all year long. Dont see it lasting in the winter states.
Please prove me wrong cause this makes for a pretty clean look.

And maybe add an after pic (5-10 miles)

First off I used hi temp semi gloss. Next time Ill use the enamel I think.

Clean them well. I used a lot of brakekleen. If they are already rusty hit em with a wire wheel on a drill or something. The paint wears off on the top hat where it contacts the wheel of course (not visible).

I use pretty aggressive wheel cleaners and a powerwasher and i have removed some of it on my calipers. This is likely due to poor prep on the calipers. I didn't spend enough time cleaning them, and again I think I would use the enamel that is suggested next time.

I've done this now on a couple vehicles and it helps quite a bit, even my beater with steel wheels and hubcaps lol. Hate that rust ring especially when behind some nice wheels that show them off.

This method confuses my small brain. All I know is sand before paint (adhesion promoter). Except plastidip of course lol

I don't see how this does not effect stopping performance? Enamel does gunk up even with sand paper at speeds no faster than your hand can go. Add the speed and friction and heat regular braking then you will eventually have issues. Unless there is a way to test this theory that it does not effect braking performance and prove me wrong I would not spray and then throw the pads on and then just trust that the paint comes completely off the pads after the 5 stops of 50 or w/e. Instead of using new pads I would first run the old pads and let all the paint rub off the surface area with a few stops then go back and add the new pads. Just seems pretty dangerous to me and although it does look damn good I would go that extra mile and do some extra work for safety. Looks should never out weigh safety.



Sorry if it sounds like im doggin on this mod and obviously from a prospected person. Been working on cars since I was 10 and father for his whole life and I would just not trust it. Great idea tho, but like I said just do a lil extra work and replace the pads after the first ride is all I say.
