Yo, I gotta 98 2 door LT with about 102K miles.

I am hearing a pretty nasty rattling sound coming from under the vehicle when I accelerate. It began as I was driving around town then went away. I later did some highway driving and noticed a bit of a shake around 75 mph so I stayed around 65 for good measure. It rattles all the time now (when accelerating), sometimes it goes away if I get it over 50 mph but then it usually starts shaking again.

When I put it in neutral and rev it everything sounds normal so there's no problem there. Is it the transmission dying?

My wheel bearings made a nasty rattle ... till I changed them. Sounded like marbles in a coffee can.

had a similar problem. thought it was the trans, turned out to be the rear end. spun a bearing on the lsd...one shop wanted to charge me well over a grand to replace everything, another charged me a couple of hundred to re-use everything and just fix the problem..couldnt be happier with a couple extra hundred bucks left over. dont wait to long though to fix it

Yes cause you are moving.

Like fyremanpat said don't wait to long what ever it is. I let my wheel bearings go to long and one welded itself to the spindle. That was a rather interesting fix ... LOL

Since you say while accelerating and shaking, I am leaning towards an engine issue. It might be 'preignition" or knocking. Try using 93 octane fuel, and if it goes away then its going to be that. Common causes are improper heat range plugs, overheating, timing issue etc. Any check engine codes?
