Time to renew On*

I find value in it and have been a subscriber for years.

Glad everything worked out good for you and your daughter.

I totally agree, Phil, ...... I have had my Onstar since 04 and would NEVER be without it, HUGE value, even if you only use it once, and in an emergency, you will be glad you had it..... I live in British Columbia , and some of our mountain roads can be challenging with crummy or no cell service, and sometimes one can wait a LONG time for another car to come long, I'm thinking winter time, mostly. I have been lucky and used it a couple times, not for me, but to help others out in serious need, that was worth the price of admission right there.......glad everything turned out well, here....

ok... so i auto started my 2018 Tahoe Lt because in Texas it’s 100 degrees. Opened the door, put my 3 year old in the her car seat and shut the door. Unbeknownst to me, my keys fell out of my pocket on to the seat. All of a sudden, all of the doors are locked. Freaking out i call a locksmith. Didn’t have onstar activated so thought i was out of luck. CAR THEN SHUTS OFF AFTER 10 min. Probably standard. I call onstar and they help me out due to emergency. BUT HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN WITH MY KEYS IN THE CAR?? should i take it in and ask? Thanks for any help. Never been more scared in my life. My daughter was trapped for 20 min and was really hot but checked out ok. Almost bashed out a window but i thought locksmith would be there quick. Thanks for any advice.
Hello in the owners manual there is a page to set your Denali to No lock with keys inside. Under the settings in your Denali. The care will honk twice to let you know it’s not locked.

According to what I understand about these trucks, I thought they were programmed to not lock automatically if the key is inside the vehicle. But I could be wrong on that.[/QU
What page outlines how to keep your keys from falling out of your pocket?

idk about this year but I would think that the keys would have to be in the ignition in the vehicle, otherwise how does the car know the keys are inside? Just read further this post can be deleted

Wow - glad to hear of a happy ending. I thought there was a free trial period of OnStar that would have been activated when you took delivery of the car??

So this gen truck doesn’t have an actual key that goes into the ignition. Every truck I’ve seen has a push button start. So there’s a corresponding module in the truck that the key fob is synced with and it knows when the fob is in the truck. Or it’s supposed to know..... so it doesn’t lock.

LTs do not have push button standard - you need a Luxury or TX edition pkg (but both are very common). Dealerships like to sell 1 year old rentals with 40-50k miles as they show up as 1 owner; most rentals do not have push button either...

Interesting. I have three clients with LT packages and they all have push button starts. I’ve never seen a non push button start. Lol.
