Hello All,

As the title states, where do I measure on my 2013 Escalade ESV to see if it is sitting level?
Reason being that I do not have a level spot anywhere on my driveway or such. So, checking oil and trans fluid is a pain.
My intent is to raise the rear of the vehicle until it is level. (with a hydraulic jack, or drive onto 2x4's or such...)
But I don't know what or where to measure...

Make sense?

Thanks!

Putting a bubble level just on the bottom of the frame rail should be good enough, I'd think.

I’ve seen guys measure from the center of the wheel to the top of the wheelwell opening. You can do this anywhere so go find a parking lot some where and get your measurements.

As stated above, go to a parking lot somewhere where it is level and take your measurements there. That's what I do.

You can also measure from the ground to the bottom lip of the fender over the tire at the tire's center line, as that is the visual perspective on level.

Note that your truck has automatic leveling installed through its rear air shocks, unless someone removed that suspension system, and it should automatically be level at all times, if the system is working correctly..

I think we're talking 2 different kinds of level here. One is level for fluid checking, and the other is level in terms of ride height front and rear. The OP is looking for the former.

I just check my fluids at the gas station. Close enough for government work.

Gentlemen, Thank you for the information!

I will admit, I feel stupid for not thinking of putting a level on the underside of the frame. Thanks, diesel_dave!
And, Geotrash, that is the simplest method.

Thanks!

my driveway is slanted, i just pull out on to the street, besides there is really no need to that precise unless you are checking for leakage or something

I just pull it into the garage, the floor is pretty level in there
That would require me to have a garage...:D

I was concerned about reading the level correctly on the 6L80E. I had thought they were somewhat sensitive to fluid level.

Thanks!
