I own a 2002 Tahoe. I’ve done the 2021 Tahoe brake upgrade to the front of my Tahoe and I’m curious to see if anyone had done the rear. If so what’s need? Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Thoughts on rear brakes seem to be that GMT800 rears are the best of all generations. Larger rotors and maybe dual piston calipers. Only upgrade might be stainless lines and more aggressive pads.
Can you explain to me what GMT800 is? Thanks!

GMT800 is the body style 99-07.5 trucks and 00-06 SUVs.

My 99 Silverado has rear, single piston rotors. I'm planning on swapping a 2kxx axle from a 2014 truck, mainly for axle strength upgrade. But I have discovered the newer axle has larger rotors (still single piston calipers.) IDK what that translates to the SUVs (if at all), but I would guess they use the same brake setups trucks vs SUVs?

Edit: @mattbta beat me to it...

Never heard of the Hummer being part of the GMT800...

Besides engine and transmissions (and wheels), I don't believe there's anything else shared with the GMT800 "body style" such as frames, axles, body panels, tailgates, windshields, etc. I thought the Hummers were like a different animal altogether.

The 1st generation avalanche I think is closer to the GMT800 though, at least on the drivetrain. IDK?
