Rear brakes binding/sticking

My rear brakes are almost always sticking a bit after I come to a stop and then pull away. Both sides have been doing it for a while. I thought there must be something seriously wrong in one of them but there's nothing and everything is as it should be. Normally seems to happen on one side or the other. Both sides have uneven worn drums and one side has a slight weep on the cylinder, but apart from that I can't find anything else wrong. Could it be the weep on the brake cylinder causing this? Or would it be the master cylinder perhaps?

Anyone have any experience with this?

I've had all the parts for a complete rear brake rebuild for a while but haven't get around to doing it. There's aftermarket crap in there right now but I have all AC Delco for the rebuild when I finally get around to it.

Fluid leak on the shoes can cause problems. I would also be aware that with the age of the rig and likely still having the same backing plates, that you can have grooves/indentations worn in to the plate where the back of the shoe edge sits against the plate. Are the brake cables moving freely? Hot spots on the drums and shoes? Glazed shoes? Return springs in good shape? Self adjusters moving freely? Equalizer bars centered properly or bent or......?

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about this some more and was leaning toward the backing plates. The weep on the cylinder threw me off a little I think. They were in pretty good shape but I have had issues with the brakes both sides and have cleaned them off with brakeclean but didn't replace the grease where the shoes rub. Also has aftermarket spring kit which might not help. I'll check them out again.

This was a bad caliper on one side, possibly both. Aftermarket trash was sticking open. I felt the bind in one of them when I replaced them yesterday.

If your rears are sticking and or weeping, change the wheel cylinders. As soon as the fronts are well bedded, your problem will return.

Bad caliper? Shoes on the rear? Are you talking about the front calipers?
