Sorry to derail, but how did you go about removing the plastic step pad from the bumper? I may be drilling sensors in at some point, and would like to get a better feel for the positioning of them by finding the important stuffs inside. Thanks!

The plastic pads are held in place with tabs that stick out from the bottom. I would imagine the best way to remove it is to be able to push on the tabs from the underside of the bumper and work them out slowly. That's what I plan to do to remove my other two. If you just pry from the top you will most likely damage some of the tabs. As you can see from my first pic the step pad was pulled from the bumper in the accident and a few of the tabs were damaged.

Well I finally made a decision about the bumper and wanted to post the results. I ended up purchasing an aftermarket bumper on ebay after another Tahoe owner recommended it.

I was at first skeptical with it only being $138 but I could not be happier with it. The fit was perfect and I could not tell a difference between it and the factory bumper. It's amazing that GM wanted over $700 for basically the same thing.

I did of course have to get it painted but my paint shop only charged me $100 and they did a great job. I decided to not replace the right step pad since the scrape is not very noticeable and it certainly is not worth spending $150 on a new step pad.

I have some black top pads off my 01 that should fit yours. If you want them let me know and I can send you pics. Just pay shipping on them.

Thank you very much for the information. I have been looking around for a new bumper but wasn't very sure about the ebay bumpers.
