I'm sure there is already a thread on here about this but I don't know what the hell you would call it so here is goes:

I removed the rear bow tie which was held on by 3m tape. However, as we already all know there are 3 little holes that stand out in a circle. I purchased a chrome rear bow tie but the more I looked at my ride, I liked the idea of the clean finish with no bow tie on the rear.

What do you call the part where the rear bow tie is held? I know they sell this piece in chrome but do not know what it's called. :emotions122:

I'm assuming this is removable from the back of the Tahoe? Where do I get one as I am thinking of having it painted to match my ride and leaving in naked from a bow tie....with no holes to show.

it's an applique. Tailgate applique or sometimes called license plate applique...

:rocking: :Handshake: thanks, I will look for one without the holes. Is that a good price they are asking?

Do either of you know how this is removed from the rear?

Have a few beers, and then remove the INSIDE tailgate panel, the really big one in the back.

I did mine once almost just for the heck of it. I did Dynamat once inside though.

All accounts here suggest that that thing is a PITA to remove (and to reattach securely). Others have done it, though. There may even be a write up on it.

Mine is secure. I did it and it was easy enough for me, and I am no Einstein :)
