Marc, my 99' 2DR has a button in the inside back next to the back glass on the passenger side that's labeled "Unlock". I haven't closed myself inside yet to see what it does. Evidently its to open the back glass in case you were locked inside but I'm not sure. I'll have to try it or look in the owners manual to see what its for.

Maybe there is a possibility of splattered kiddies or camping/sleeping in the back, whichever seems most useful.

If you were locked inside the truck can't you just open the door and get out?? :lol2:

My truck has barn doors. If you hit that lock button all the doors lock after you shut the door.

That would be too easy now wouldn't it? I think Dylan's got it right, I went out and looked at the button in the daylight, it's labeled LOCK not UNLOCK, makes more sense now.

^^ lol

I also like the idea of opening from the inside.

For some reason i always thought the older tahoes had the tailgate and the newer ones had the barns until i saw 99tanhoe's hoe.

Rewire the "lock/unlock" switch in the back to the open the rear glass switch on the dash. This way, you simply pop the switch from the inside and the glass opens. The switch is already locked out unless the trans is in P, so its safe.
