Hey dudes and very few ladies! Lol

Questions!

1. What is the axle shaft length on my 2005 Tahoe?
2. My glove box tells me I've got a gov bomb in the rear, I've heard more bad than good. What's the best replacement for it? Locking and non-locking options.
3. On the lockers.. is there an E-locker available for the 8.6" rear end?

If I go with a posi or locker I want zero to low maintenance. Thanks in advance! :driver:

Also, I have 2wd. No off road stuff, and I'm gonna be going to 4.11s. I'd like something to help me launch faster, help with roll racing. So anyone running something similar. Need axle shaft length because I'm planning on building the whole rear when I swap gears out. Axles, gears, posi/locker, full gasket/bearing kit, and good fluid. Might do a diff cover if I can find something better than the lame "finned" covers.

Depends on how much HP you plan on running , Less than 400 HP to the wheels a built 10 bolt is fine IMO any more and Id run the 14 SF

I also Agree a Tru Trac is awesome for street usage . Not sure if your familiar but Lockers are a little chattery , My locker makes a little chatter but not much . Only aggravating thing is when it locks and unlocks in corners . Kinda pops the rear loose a little and likes to wander the road a little

Just get a quality set of gears, detroit tru-trac, and master rebuild kit. Will be solid enough unless you get to the 500-600whp range

What I want is 600+ (don't laugh, I'm serious) but my budget will not be getting there, but I just wanted to get a little more power to the ground and make sure the other parts can handle it. I'm pretty rough on the ole gal so I'm trying to get the good stuff.

I dont mind chatter, probably can't hear it over my exhaust anyway. But if 100% of the poll says tru-trac is good, its good with me!

Now back to gears, I've been looking on randys r&p site.

Are the USA gears good ones? I'm open to suggestions, since you guys have experience on it. I want it cheap but if they're gonna wear bad or deform.. ya know.

Get Yukon or Richmand in my opinion. or the OEM ones. But I will be getting the tru trac with 4.10 yukon gears along with their master kit for my burb. I have about 450hp at the crank.
