Personally you should boost it, tune it, and go from there. That would net the most gains for the least amount of mods.

You'd need top end and higher gears once the 8-10lbs of boost kicks in.

Don't take our word for it. Seek out others in your area and get first hand experiences.
I've been looking for something to boost it and someone showed me procharger superchargers that would fit I think and I've heard other people talk about Whipple and wynjammer. Every time I try to look on summit or something I end up on weiland which says it fits my 99 but I need a carb and my truck is injected. So I get pretty confused in how to go about all that

I checked out that procharger and that's pricey lol. Went to vortech website and didn't see anything under a 2001. So it looks like I got a lot of saving up to do.

Search around as you can always pickup a used kit. I bought mine for less than $1800 or so if I recall correctly.

I was just vigilant as well as patient.

I looked at a wynjammer and it's pretty cheap brand new. Somebody on here installed it on a 99 Tahoe and had good things to say. I heard of putting a Whipple on a tbi but not exactly sure what that means? Is it diff from SFI

It is a good deal of work to swap away from the vortec injection and computer setup. Not cheap either. If you really need a power adder the wynjammer kit is very straightforward.
