I can't lie, mine was rebuilt (going on the fourth time since 4WP can't get it right to save there asses). If I would have known about the 14Bolt before hand i would have waited. Too late! sunk new gears, an $800 locker and installation on the 10 bolt....

Huh? I knew the G80 was bad because everyone here says so, but I thought the 10 bolt itself was ok. The 14Bolt would be better, but it's rare around here. I was planning on replacing my G80 with that Trutrac BowtieFreak likes but in my existing rear which is 10bolt.

If I was in a pinch or my existing diff blew suddenly, I'd probably pickup a junkyard rear just to keep my truck as my DD while I a) rebuilt my old one, or b) upgraded to something better. Point is, I'd use the unknown JY only as long as it took to have it replaced with a known good rear end.

few posts back i argued it is not a bad rear end for someone who isn't going to beat on it or use it truely offroad. once i get the truck "done" i want to be able to take it out and beat on it once in awhile, if i would have known about the 14 bolt being such an easy swap i wouldn't have dropped all the money on the 10 bolt.

not saying its bad, just would have personally wanted to go with the stronger one out of the gate instead of wasting a grand on it.
