Rear ended somebody today!

I got scammed today. insurance scammed, that is.

Basically what happened:

I was doing about 40, and a hundai elantra came along and cut me off. I wasn't like a normal cut off, he cut across three lanes of traffic almost hitting another driver, and ended up about 4 inches in front of me. About a second after he cut me off, he decided he didn't like the street he was on and slammed on the brakes. BOOM! There goes my front end I hit the brakes, but that elantra stopped way quicker than my truck ever could. Since it was a dead on hit, its my fault too.. The cops said it would've been better if i hit him in the corner.

The insurance scam here is that it's my fault, even though it clearly wasn't. And he's claiming I broke his neck/back and going to sue me... The only advantage I have is that he is a middle eastern man here on a visa.

The picture doesn't look that bad, but my bumper is about 4 inches back, my grille is cracked, my hood no longer closes all the way (or locks), I'm pretty sure my core support is tweaked, my headlights are WAY out of alignment, and my condenser is split in two.

And my insurance is going THROUGH THE ROOF.

man that sucks!! I see people drive like that all the time and steer way clear of them just for this reason. I wouldn't be surprised if that dude in the elantra did that on purpose to try and get insurance money.

I think I better install a forward facing camera in addition the rear I have already have. And put a recorder on it.

Almost happened to me a couple days ago. I was on the highway and i was about to get on the next lane and this dude all of a sudden floored his suv and tries to make me hit him and i swerve awat and when i turn he is smiling like if he wanted me to smash into him. Pissed me off.

So are you goint to drop ij a new grille, bumper, bull bar, and hood or just going to the junk yard and getting what you need. Also you need new corner lights because the clips where the scrws go are broken. I would just go with new headlights and corner lights and parking because if you are replafing grille and lights theb why not just do all while you ate at it.
