Rear lift gate glass hinge seperation?!

FYI. About two days ago I repaired the driver side rear glass hinge. Feels stronger now. Hopefully it should last. Driver side hinge is still holding strong from first repair.

And here you can see the tail light glued to the exterior of the glass over the trim surround piece and the lift support mount separating from the trim surround:

This is exactly the problem I’m having on my ‘03. I was thinking to Expoxy/JB weld it and use speed clamps while it dries (carefully that is). Thought maybe the replacement gas struts were too strong causing the separation but it seems to be a design flaw. Thanks for the write up !!

I'm still in need of repairing mine... I have a terrible habit of leaving things unfinished. I bought the 3M windshield glue. It's on my self ready to be done...
