Hi, i'm new to this forum, i hope some of you can help. I have an 07 Denali and it has the power lift gate. The lift gate will open but you have to raise it manually. When you press the button on the fob or when you press the button on the lift gate itself it makes noises but won't lift. Help...

You need new shocks. The old shocks aren't helping the weight so the power gate can't open it all by itself

My shocks are worn out but i didn't know that could affect the lift gate so much to where it wouldn't even lift. I feel like its a motor issue because when i press the button on the lift gate to make it go down nothing happens...

BTW the shocks still hold the lift gate up...they are just not the strongest.

Even though you think they aren't the issue, you said yourself they are worn. Just go ahead and swap them out and see. it's not the "keeping it up" that's heavy, it's the "pushing it up there"...

I see what you're saying and i agree with you but it still stumps me when i press the button to make it go down and i do not get any sounds. The sound that i am getting from the lift gate when i try to open it is coming from the release NOT the actual motor that raises it. This is why i am leaning towards a motor issue.

If it's open and you hit the remote button, what happens?

The taillights flash once like they would if it were lowering but other than that nothing happens. No noises from release or lift gate motor itself.
