rear tailgate latch

So my rear window/tailgate latch wont unlock whenever I hit the release hatch. I messed with the latch in the tailgate before and got it to work a couple times but after that it went back to not unlatching. Is there a permanent fix that I just can't figure out or can I buy that latch? If so does anybody know a place I can get it and include the part number? I've searched but no luck finding the actual part

Is it a button you press?? If so I would check the solenoid and make sure all the connections are good and clean and check the button as well. Sorry I got barn doors on mine but should be like any other electric door lock i would think.

the button itself works fine and I can hear it "unlock" but the actual latch in the tailgate wont release.like I said, I messed around with it before and got it to unlock a couple times but that was it. if I can find where I can get just the latch I would but no luck finding one

Have you tried putting some oil on it? I have put some on some pickup trucks tail gate handle and got them to work. As far as finding one I would look at pickups. Don't think chevy would have spent money on something like that when they could use one from a pickup.

true.i used pb blaster before and played with it till it unlocked those couple times.i just figured if i can get a new one it would probably be a lot easier

mine does the same thing. i just hit the button twice lol. ive gotten in there and looked/lubed and didnt really see anything wrong. its one of those quirks that makes my truck "special" lol

yeah after I sprayed it,it worked the first couple tries.then it was after a hittin the button a couple times.now its back to not unlocking
