I put in my Pioneer AVH-P4400BH double din earlier this year and I've always wanted to get a backup camera. Since this unit has the trigger wire for reverse and also lets you select the camera while driving, I decided to try my hand at an install. Most of you have already seen numerous installations of rear views but here is how I did it.

First thing I did was run the video cable up to the front from the back. I pulled up all the trim and door sills along the left side of the truck then went up near the parking brake release and over behind the panel under the steering wheel and behind the radio.

Next, I ran the trigger wire from the purple/white input on the radio harness to the gray wire at the BCM. The gray wire is on the blue plug and labeled A8. The camera has a power lead as well and I ran that to the rear 12V accessor outlet on the right side.

Lastly, I mounted the camera. Pretty much chose the same spot as everyone else but I used a different camera than most. Its a Pyle PLCM24IR. Link is here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003C23PPK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00. I mounted it by tucking the mounting bracket under the rear bumper trim. The left side of the bracket easily tucks under the left side of the bumper trim but I had to notch the right side trim to get the right side of the bracket to slide under it. I will get some pictures of that later. Here is the finished product.

Nice job on the install! I do have one question though about the reverse trigger wire--what year/make/model is your vehicle? I ask because I've read conflicting information on what BCM wire to use for the reverse trigger--in your case you used the BCM blue plug/gray wire/A8; I've also read that the BCM black plug/light green wire/F supposedly works as well--note that both were given for the last-gen (2001-2006) GM trucks/SUVs. I'm hoping that your vehicle is exactly like mine, at least in model year and make/model...

Thanks!

nice. could you give some feedback on how the camera works after it is exposed to water? i had bought a camera for my other truck (not this brand) and it got messed up after it rained. i ended up putting a Boyo camera on the truck & it has been great. i need to get a camera on my Yukon now.

See signature. 2003 yukon slt. I think both will work however the difference is the green wire goes high when the reverse lights are on. So your screen will turn on when your perimeter lighting is on. From what I have read anyway.

03YukonNH--doh...how did I not see that (your sig)???? Anyways, thanks for the explanation--I didn't wire up the camera myself but I'm guessing that in my case the trigger wire is connected to the green wire because sometimes when I turn the key to ACC after I just unlocked my vehicle the camera activates and I can see video even though I haven't even touched the shifter.

Driven through rain and washed it once since the install. Hit it with water directly too. Everything seems fine. I did take the camera apart and noticed some weatherproofing on the inside so it should hold up ok for a while.
