Rear wiper fix question

My rear wiper doesn't work so I'm going to try the cheapest fix first and see if the ground wire is the problem. To fix the ground should I cut the factory ground wire and attach a new wire to the end of the wire coming out of the wiper motor and then to the body of the vehicle?

Did you check the connection under the rubber boot in upper righthand corner of rear hatch ? That's where I found my ground issue. Terminals needed to be cleaned. I know some one here had a post with pics.

Don't forget to check the fuses.
