So a part fell off my wiper leading to the blade sliding out. So bought new one and installed it. But it works once then stops. It does not seem to dock properly. It was working fine before. Someone may have tampered with it, not sure.

Looking at it closer, it seems like it does not dock properly. Seems like wiper is too skinny and so the part on the arm that needs to ride up the incline to dock it does not hit bottom of the ramp but hits the perpendicular part instead; essentially, it can not ride up the ramp to dock.

If i guide it back into the dock manually, it slides in due to being under tension. Then when i turn it on again, it seems to go backwards, then forward and back, but gets stuck again.

Once last thing, i put in the old one that was working fine prior and it does the same thing.

Could this be a programing issue? Could a part have been taken out that would cause this?

Any ideas? I did not do any modifications to the truck.

my 00 would occasionally do something weird with the rear wiper, it had something to do with the rear glass hatch mechanism. but for starters I would get a new oem wiper blade and see if that fixes the issue.

Basics first. Like Doubeleive said, start with an OEM wiper and then go from there.

Seems to go backwards may be because you forced it to dock. Try the different blade before you tear open the covers to check it out.

What year is this truck?

I don't force it. Just lift it up so it can hit the slope and then it springs back, but not completely into docked position. I will look for OEM wiper. thanks. That was my next guess. It is just weird that the old one... Wait. I wonder if someone did not steal my rear wiper. or switch it out. That is what must have happened. Because it worked fine before. Now even the old one does not dock properly.

I had all sorts of weird problems with mine when the ground wire for it was going bad. erratic movement, not fully docking, etc. I'd try running a new temporary ground to a good spot on the frame. I believe I just cut my old one and ran a new wire to somewhere in the rear hatch, but it was years ago, haven't had a problem since.

My glass (top part) never opened on mine. I know there is fix for it but never got around to fixing it.

Thanks all for your help. Will work on replacing with OEM or similar wiper.

the glass hatch and the wiper arm have to be synced, it's made that way as a safety feature so if you had the glass open loading groceries the wiper arm won't come up and smack you in the face. I think if the glass wont open it might be because it thinks the wiper is going. There may be a way to take the wiper arm off and turn the wiper switch on and then off and let it park with the arm off, then put the wiper arm back on in the parked position. I think that is how I fixed mine on my 00 but it's been a while. If you do that I think you have to make sure the arm is put on just exactly right otherwise it may work the first time and then not park correctly again. So it could take a couple try's. Good luck.
