Well the new pistons I bought ended up being stroker pistons so they didn't work for my build, but I now have another question... I ended up going with some flat tops from an LT4/Grand Sport vette (4 VR). I will also be using an LT4 hot cam.

I know that this combo will require a tune, but at the same time, would I be able to correct for any issues that I might have by running the higher compression flat tops? I am REALLY wanting to stick with 87 octane. Any help would be appreciated.

Flat tops with Vortec heads will put you at 10+:1 easily, that LT4 hot cam has some bleed off so I'm not sure what dynamic compression would end up as but I wouldn't plan on those parts +87 octane.

I'm pretty sure LT4 and Vortec pistons used different ring sizes, check that before you make a mistake.

Yeah, the LT4 has metric rings... I'm sort of holding out hope that I can possibly have it tuned for 87.
