Hello everyone,
I'm hoping I can get some light shed on this situation!
I have a 2002 Yukon XL. It has 189K miles on it and I haven't had ANY issues w/ it whatsoever in the year and a half that I have owned it. But, about 2 months ago, I was driving down a busy route and all of the lights on the dash lit up, the message center said "Reduced Engine Power" and my truck started idling pretty hard. I pulled over right away, shut my truck off completely, waiting a couple minutes and it started up right away w/o any hesitation. My mechanic was 5 minutes down the road so I popped in there. I don't remember the code number he pulled, but it did say something about the mass air flow sensor. My check engine light came on a couple weeks before that as I was accelerating pretty hard going uphill at about 55mph. I brought it to him and it was something about a sensor in the gas pedal, which I had replaced...then a few weeks later, this. He cleared the codes for me, my "Service Engine Soon" light went off and I haven't had any issues w/ it whatsoever until today. It did this to me twice within the matter of time it took me to drive my kids to school 1.5 miles away and back home. I shut it off both times and it fired back up w/ no problems both times as well, but now I'm afraid to drive it! Any suggestions or experience from anyone on this?! I'm freaking out. We're a single income family of 7 (almost 8!)...we have money to fix it, but I'm hoping this isn't going to be a huge costly fix! Just wanted to get a little insight before I drop it off to my mechanic on Monday.

Thanks in advance!

Location
SW CT,
Could be as easy as cleaning the mass airflow sensor(mafs). They are very delicate/small wires so try not to touch them, grab some eletrical cleaner and spray it liberally...reassemble and see if it fixes the issue.
If you can turn a screwdriver you can do this yourself...worth a try for the cost of a can of electrical cleaner.

Whereabouts is it located, if you don't mind me asking? I can let my husband know. I also read that it can be caused by moisture getting in/around those wires? We had some torrential downpours the past few days and it seems that since everything dried up, I'm not having any issues whatsoever. The last time this happened, I remember standing in the rain w/ my mechanic as he hooked my truck up to the diagnostic computer...

It should be connected to the air cleaner .... There will be one plug in just to the right of the air filter housing following the intake tube to the engine ..
Hope that helps !!
