Reference or Type S

Whats good everyone

As the title states, which do you prefer?

Infinity Reference series or alpine type s

i would love to have kappas around, as well as r's but both of those are more than i wanna spend

How do they compare to the stock bose system? as well as how do they compare to being run off the bose amp if i'm not able to get a 4 channel amp to run them (i dont really wanna run new wires up thru the dash)

i have always loved infinity, but i'm finding i can get the type s's for a little bit cheaper possibly, i assume a little better mid bass response with the alpines but i expect crisper highs with the infinity's

and i'm doing a set of comps in the front door, and a set of coax in the rear door, and i'm not a fan of mix and match speakers, so one brand and one line


and this is in an 03 hoe with bose and a pioneer HU

Type S have a very dry sounding mid range IMO, and the titanium tweets on Infinitys make my ears bleed. I don't like the sound of either.

I would do a set of amplified comps up front and skip the rear speakers. Hooking up aftermarket speakers to the weak amp in the HU or the weak amp from the Bose system won't be much of an upgrade. Amping them will make a huge difference.

I had a set of type S in the past and i would definitely go back to them. they sounded great in my opinion. Im running rockford punch components right now but wish i had my alpines

ive never been a huge fan of RF speakers, amps are great though

but i'm gonna go with the last model references, i can get em cheap enough

but the infinity reference x series >>>> alpine type s

i was pleasantly surprised with the difference between the new reference series and the alpines
