'06 GMC Yukon SLT 4wheel drive. One owner, never had any issues. Can anyone vouch for reliability of this one between 105-130k miles. It's my Dad's car, and I might use it as a city commute car for 2 years while I pay off other stuff. He's take great care of it, and never had any major issues go wrong with...but will that last for another 2 years?

If its been taken care of - which is sounds like, you should have zero issues aside from standard maintenance. If you do run into trouble and know how to use a wrench - we can help save a bunch of money. (unless of course, you just want to pay us to do it)

GM 1/2 ton vehicles have a well deserved reputation for durable engine/transmissions (until the AFM cylinder shutdown engines appeared in 2007). Unfortunately it is not uncommon for some of the cheaper parts to fail (like sensors, axle seals, ball joints, suspension parts) and require repairing. So for your purposes, your dad's truck is a smart purchase.

My 05 is doing well, 170k. You're likely to have bulbs, a/c hot/cold issues (cheap fix), front suspension wear etc

I have a 2003 Tahoe and suburban both have around 230k one them. Tahoe is running strong. Suburban burnt up the 3-4 clutch pack from towing abuse. your dads truck has plenty of life left in it. Warning gas mileage in the city sucks.

As the old eBay saying goes, "buy with confidence". You are fortunate to know the history of this truck and to know that it was cared for. That alone should ease your mind. None of us have a crystal ball, but if you maintain it as your dad has, chances are highly likely it'll serve you well. I had no reservations when buying mine with 146K on it.

While we're talking reliability stories here: My 2013 Express 2500 (company-issued van) had 50 miles on it when it was issued to me. Because of the garbage factory trans tuning, I manually shifted it any time I wasn't on the highway because it was easier and faster to do this rather than let the trans constantly upshift, motor bog, then have it downshift again before quickly upshifting. That 6.0 stayed at 3500+ RPM. I changed the oil between 25% and 0% on the oil life monitor, which ended up being 7-9K OCI. The original spark plugs were replaced at 200K miles. The trans fluid was what was in it when it let the factory. That van never even had so much as an odd sound and pulled like a beast. The trans died a couple months ago at 230,000 miles.

In recent news: My buddy's 2000 Silverado was in excellent mechanical and aesthetic condition despite 317,000 on the odometer- no leaks or abnormal sounds. His house was recently flooded up to the roof with the truck under the carport. It floated up and smashed the carport light and bumped a support pole in the carport. His stepson came to visit prior to the flood and is now stranded because his truck ended up on it's side in the front yard. Having nothing better to do, he worked on the truck for a day and is now using it to haul salvageables to the temporary apartment. It's running as it did before and all the electronics work except for the radio, some of the gauges and the driver's side window. I told him we'll address whatever issues arise later (surely inevitable) with parts from a guy down the road from me that parts out these trucks. I wanna see this beast hit 400K!
