I have a 2003 Yukon Denali. Someone told me that it may have a remote start option built in and that the dealer can reprogram the pcm to work. All I would have to do is buy a new key fob with that option. Does anyone know if this is true?

No. That is only and option for the new body and most dont have it without a few add ons.....cost wise you can get aftermarket the same or cheaper using existing or new remotes...

Aftermarket (assuming you buy a quality part) is much more reliable and has much better range. With aftermarket you can also get many features the oem wouldn't have like a full alarm system(don't be fooled the oem isn't a real alarm) 2-way paging remotes to let you know armed disarmed running and alarm status right on your remote..(some 2-ways also give you internal temp report right on the remote so you know how hot or cold it is in the car.

At my shop we only sell DEI parts as the are the best hands down...
Every shop is different but just as a baseline we charge:
avital 4103- using oem remotes (lock 3x to start) $279
avital 4103lx- 2-new remotes extended range -$319
viper 5601-full alarm with remote start. 2-remotes. long range.-$449
viper 5704-full alarm/start/1-2way paging/1-1way backup remote/
2-way has stated 1 mile range(longest on market) -$549

this is installed and including bypass module...everything but tax.
That would give you a base line as what you can expect.

Dont be fooled nothing works like viper and no one stands behind their
equipment better (lifetime warranty across the board)

I run 5704 on all my cars...it also has 2 car feature so if you have one and say your wife has one you can use your 2way to control hers and hers to control yours so you only have to carry one remote.

viper also has smart start to use your phone as a remote but thats another story in itself.

i am not affiliated with viper in any way other than that is what i sell in my shop. I don't get paid in any way to promote them to you, I just hate to see people get parts that don't work or only work for a short time.

Hey, slick thanks for the info. I already new that if it didn't have factory of some kind I would go with a viper system. I have put on several after market rem. starts myself, but I think I will take this one somewhere and have it installed. I have a real problem seeing under a dash anymore. Thanks again Marshall

Honestly with the proper quality parts you wont really be "under the dash".
Removing the dash/radio trim and the driver knee bolster (which doest get easier than this vehicle as im sure you know) puts 99% of the work right in front of you so no need to lay on your back. The hardest wire to get to is probably the brake wire..(and it is EASY) Fire wall is easy to get through if you are installing hood pin or siren (on personal vehicle i leave hood pin off as it is #1 point of failure in remote start systems as they get snapped off)

With good parts and wireing info even someone with no remote start or automotive experience can have this installed in a few hours tops. I have done 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000 of these and can generally do full alarm and remote start in under an hour depending on how much my phone rings or how many ppl are talking to me while im doing it.

If you need i can help you with the wiring info and anything else...i can even give you the best parts to use depending on features you want...

don't be intimidated....this is the easiest vehicle to put rs on.
