First off, I'm new to the forum, I just bought a 2006 Suburban 1500 LTZ and I love it. I purchased new key fobs to replace the old worn ones when I stumbled upon the fact that with the right sequence of buttons on the fob, the truck will remote start.

The first thing I checked was if the truck had remote start installed but it does not have code AP8.

The sequence is (beginning with the truck locked): unlock --> lock --> unlock --> lock --> lock and then the truck starts.

I don't even know what to make of this but was curious if this worked for anyone else? Really strange and took me by surprise!

Thanks,
Peter

No such luck on my truck. Dang that would have been nice to have factory-installed remote start on my truck! It's pretty crisp in the mornings where I live in my little ski town during the winter! :DAnyways the remote start sequence might be an LTZ specific feature for your year. I know that that specific package on the Suburban had a lot of specific features.

Thanks! I love the truck, it has more bells and whistles than my wife's '07 ML350. I was looking at the Yukon Xl Denali initially but was reading about the 2006 LTZ. I started searching and happened to find this one locally. Dumb luck really, and it turned out to be under 100k miles and clean. I couldn't walk away after I test drove it! Here in NorCal we have a lot of Yukons and Suburbans on the road, I have not yet seen another 06 LTZ though.

I'm discovering that the truck may have 1-2 additions not on the build sheet. I'm not sure if they are aftermarket or dealer installed? For example, the remote start feature is on (and it works exactly as remote start should, aside from the odd key fob sequence to start it) and also it has two parking sensors in the back bumper. The parking assist works but I have no button on the dash to disable it (such as when towing).

Everything works so I have nothing to complain about - only my own curiosity about the history of the truck.

@06LTZ , it looks super clean. That's a nice find. And under 100k is always a big plus! I've never seen the ltz that year with parking sensors. That's interesting. Time to go exploring haha.
