Got the P0121 code the other day and its real intermittent, but did some searching and wasnt sure if cleaning the throttle body and MAF will actually clear this code, or if I will need a new throttle body since the throttle position sensor is integral to the unit.

Also, anyone been able to drive or wait out the re-learn process that normall needs to be done with the GM scan tool? Heard that the truck could idle at 2,000 or higher.

thanks

Go for it. I did the TB/MAF cleaning for my wife's Tahoe a few weeks ago and no more P0121 code. Also, I didn't even remove the TB, just sprayed some cleaner in it and wiped the junk off with a clean rag.

The high idle was definitely a bit unnerving when it fluctuated between 1500-2500rpms, but it was gone in about two days. Been fine ever since.

I had that code a few months back on my 2008 Tahoe and all I did was clean the TB with out taking it off. I believe it takes about 50 miles of driving for it to relearn the idle.

I also cleaned it without taking it off and had same results of high idle that went away after about 50 miles. No code ever since.

I cleaned mine and that cleared the code for a couple weeks. Then it came back also the engine would stall occasionally. I ended up replacing the throttle body and have had no problems since. Thankfully the the throttle body is cheap (Amazon.com)and easy to replace. Oddly enough I didn't have any high idle issues with new throttle body.

So I had the same code come up and did the same thing, cleaned the TB with spray and rag, cleaned the intake. This morning I heard a whining noise appear and the idle RPM ran high (seems to be normal for that) any idea about the whining
