So I picked up new shoes for the Nali, took advantage of Black Friday sales to get a slightly better deal. Picked up a new set of Michelin defender LTXs in a 275/60/R20 size. I love the look of the 275/65 tires but they’re stupid heavy and stiff cuz they’re an LT tire. Lost some power, and fuel economy is definitely a little less. Plus, the drivers side tire rubs at the slightest turn of the wheel and the slightest of shock compression. It drives me nuts. I’ve been really unhappy with those aspects. I could have ordered a P rated set of 275/65 tires, and probably would have helped with the stiffness and possibly the rubbing issues, but they were also stupid expensive. So I decided to step back down to the 60 series which I really liked before. The defenders were also a little cheaper than the LTX A/T2s. So we will see how I like them. Heard so many good things about them for the GM full size rigs so I’m gonna try them out.

Tires have been sitting at my moms house since they got delivered Two days after ordering them. Lol. My LTX A/T2s are almost out of tread, but I didn’t want to chance them driving to Utah and back this week. So I’m having them installed Wednesday morning the day before I leave. Brought them to the ranch and properly cleaned and prepped them for tire coating.

So I found this great tire coating product in the fall called dura shine tire coating. If you haven’t tried it yet you REALLY SHOULD!! It’s absolutely awesome!! Cleaned up my LTX A/T2s and coated them I think I’m the beginning of October! This is what they look like right now!! Still shiny like 4 months and several rain and snowstorms later….

If you’re wondering…. This is what a properly cleaned and prepped tire should look like right before applying any kind of shine product. Most people do not properly clean off all the tire bloom and apply tire shine over it, which leaves the tire a shiny bronze type color. Not good for the tire compound and also contributes to the tire shine getting flung off during the first drive after application, and splattering it all down your paint….

Tires should be scrubbed throughly with a good acid based degreaser product. I used the last little bit of the cleaning heavy duty product that dura shine coating sells along side with their coating product, and then scrubbed with a second round of chemical guys iron DECON product. I then blow dried the tires and wiped them down with a little bit of chemical guys Diablo wheel cleaner sprayed onto a clean towel to clean up the last bits of dried on soap suds from the cleaners. This leaves the tires with a clean grayish colored sheen all the way around. Like this:

The LTX A/T2s only got a light coat of this coating as I wasn’t sure I’d like it or not, but of course I love it. So I went a little thicker this time around on the new tires to give them a little deeper shine. Here’s what the tires look like after just a half hour of applying the coating and evening out the coating. They look great so far. They’re drying overnight in the garage here at the ranch, and then they’ll be ready to go Wednesday morning to take to the shop. This coating is completely water proof, and completely dry to to the touch!! So nothing comes off when you brush up against a tire by mistake, no greasy mess…. and it stays on the tire through many washes! Just towel it down with some wheel cleaner and it’s clean and shiny after each wash! And the best part is no fling off when you’re driving at any speeds ever!! Will update with pics once the tires get mounted!

Nice looking truck! Other than the Clarion system and floor mats, have you done any else to interior? Any plans?
Both are no longer there. Lol. I replaced the clarion headunit with a pioneer apple car play enabled headunit that is so much better than the clarion. Done lots to my interior. Replaced the GMC NNBS floor mats with husky liners. Replaced the lower leather cushions on both my front seats with new ones. Got rid of all the Denali wood grain and replaced it with really dark carbon fiber vinyl wrap. I swapped in an Escalade shifter from a 2020 Escalade. I have an Escalade gauge cluster with white gauge face, silver needles and blue LED backlighting. I took an Escalade steering wheel and painted the wood grain grips dark dark black and redyed the leather tan to match my interior. Took the standard GMC logoed steering wheel airbag out and replaced it with a Denali logoed airbag from an envoy Denali that I also redyed to tan leather. My steering wheel controls all have blue LED backlighting to match the cluster. Eventually I wanna swap all the interior switches to blue backlighting.

That sounds awesome. I'd love to see a prictural tour of your Denali inside and out. I'm particularly intrigued with how the shifter swap looks and how much trouble it was to do it.

I'm in the process of a build and mod of an 06 Escalade and am always looking for ideas. So far, have had trans rebuilt, new suspension and steering, did a 2/4 belltech drop kit, and went from stock 17" to 20" wheels off 2018 Escalade. The engine swap to a LS364/450 is happening now, then exhausts and custom tune program. Just ordered new seat covers.

The shifter swap was simple. Many guys here have done the newer style shifters in the nbs rigs. It physically fits into the spot on the column without any modification. The only thing I did was went and pulled a wiring pigtail out of another truck and spliced the two wires for the tow haul button into the NBS pigtail so that the pigtail can still be unplugged and pulled if for any reason the shifter needs to come out of the truck. It’s back a few pages in the build thread with lots of photos.. I’ll find it for you.
