Spent the day removing timing gear on crank. I have 2 pullers one to small and one 2 big. Went to parts store borrowed puller. Too big. Bought smaller puller but bigger than my small one. Scavenged parts off each other to make one. Fits but not enough clearance to set screw to push against. Went to parts store bought flat head 5/16 or bugle head screw. Fit flush with crank shaft where the balancer bolt goes. Pulled gear off while trying to keep the 1 cylinder tdc. Got the new gear on. Geez what a day. Tomorrow put crank back to tdc and yank/ install cam.

All jazzed to put cam in and start the rebuild. NNNNNNah.
Put crank back to tdc or number one cylinder. Pulled cam plate and cam. Worn where it rides on rollers but not bad for 200000. Like I can really tell. I’m a new guy, re- living my glory days.
Went to grab cam looked at cam card, didn’t look right. Looked up specs and order sheet , #@#$&& wrong cam. Got with supplier who slapped me and said don’t do that again, reordered the RIGHT parts. Thanks supplier. Should be here moment into. Lesson learned, check and double check.

Ls 6 springs, new guides/ seals. Installed on 5.3 ls flex. Waiting for cam and trunnion kit. Noticed on springs they have white stripe painted on have no idea what that is for. I’ll have plenty to do when cam shows.

You've been busy. Sounds like you've got a good handle on things tho.

Finally got the cam delivered. Put new cam in, new lock plate , new main cam gear and chain. Old chain had at least 5/8 play, this one pretty tight. Took me a few try’s to line it up but finally got it. Put in new oil pump with new oil seal on pickup tube.
Slid on my belly like a reptile and got the pan back on, all new stuff torqued.
Tomorrow put front axle back up, and move on to timing cover, then I can start topside. There is a light, faint but it is there.
