I want to either replace my stock sub, or give the existing one a boost in power by replacing the amp.
I have no Idea what setup is in there. Any low cost suggestions would be great.

2002 Yukon.

Thanks

for cheap, start off just replacing the sub to a better one. OEM one's 'usually' aren't up to aftermarket standards. Some newer cars DO have great systems.
But replace the sub. If still dis-satisfied, then you can always add an amp.
Be sure to watch depth of sub you put in, and match impedance.

Do you know what size is in there now? Can you recommend a sub? And do you happen to know the impedance off hand; so I dont have to take it out and look...

Thanks

I think it is the same as the Tahoe, 8". And I googled the impedance 4 OHMS... What would you recommend for a cheap upgrade?

I built a little ported box for mine and it boosted output quite a bit honestly i was surprised. i had left over wood from my box i built for my Fi sub im ordering and some spare time so i threw together a box thats about .65 ft^3 and 40hz was the lowest i could really get the tuning down to but it worked out pretty well. i can get a pic when my phone is done charging.

If it is a 2 ohm then a dual 4 ohm sub should work fine. Just run both positives and both negatives together to the two leads from the amp.
Or find a 2 ohm svc sub. The slim mount is going to be the trick if necessary, probably going to need to be a RF or a Kicker.
