08 Yukon Denali 126K. Yesterday, I replaced original serpentine and A/C belts that were squeaking. Went with OEM AC Delco on the serpentine and an upgrade Gates HD (green) on the A/C. Checked tension and idler pulleys and they seemed fine. After new belts were installed, all is quiet. I know my shop would have replaced the tensioner and idler pulleys as standard practice. In hindsight I decided to pop for serpentine tensioner, so I ordered it today. Idler spins freely with no issues. Tensioner seemed fine too, but I thought it might be just a good idea to at least replace that part, thinking I could keep an eye on the idler pulley. Amazon had the part as used-like new for half price (OEM AC Delco). Guessing it was a return, but for $25 I thought why not! Just wondering what others do about these pulleys. Do you automatically replace when you do the belts if it's past 100K? Belts I removed had just worn out over time... no abnormal wear.

I replaced both tensioners at 140 k just as preventive maintenance. They can't last forever, plus I think the new ones keep the belts tighter. Pretty cheap insurance.

That's what I was thinking... cheap insurance. Did you also replace the idler pulley for the serpentine at the same time? I ordered just the tensioner for the serpentine. It's cold here in WI. Maybe I'll do the A/C tensioner in spring, but I thought the serpentine would be top priority because of the other components it affects.

I didn't at that time, but a short while later everything was replaced as part of my supercharger installation along with a longer belt and upgraded water pump. It came with a completely different idler/ tensioner assembly.
