Replacing Backlights in Steering Wheel Controls

If anyone is interested in just replacing the burnt out lights in your steering wheel controls rather than upgrading to LED, I found the perfect fit at radioshack. They are in a drawer near all the resistors, switches, etc. Its in one of the drawers labeled "Lamps". Part #7219. Here is a picture of the package.

They come in a package of two. I replaced two of mine today in about 20 minutes.

Carefully pop out without breaking tabs i assume

Small pick tool with a right angle. It's held in there with compression from the foam in the steering wheel. Nothing more.

I tried these bulbs on my friends truck. Buttons got really hot. Too hot so he replaced them with OEM buttons (too much $$$). Do the buttons get really hot since you replaced the bulbs?

Ya it gets warm but it's an incandescent bulb not an LED. I haven't had any problems. I just couldn't justify replacing with the factory buttons since they are so expensive.

I used the exact bulb in your pic. I thought LEDs had a cooler operating temp. I have not tried any LEDs yet. Radio Shack is great for small stuff like this.
