I would like to replace the original carpet and backing in my 2003 tahoe. I was considering putting down some type of insulation and then putting weathertech floormats on top of that rather than reinstalling carpet. Has anyone performed this or have any opinions on this approach rather than buying new carpet with backing?

These trucks are relatively simple and easily assembled/ disassembled. There's some YT vids I thin. Shouldn't be too much to remove and reinstall.

My dad had a 2000 GMC Jimmy that had the carpet replaced with a basic blue (exterior was blue, inside gray) cheap office carpet. We didn't have it too long but it seemed to be pretty good. Not sure what was underneath, it had to be something since to didn't feel completely thin. If that makes sense. Carpet like this LOL. choosing-carpet-on-a-budget-2908861-05-1a83657320dc42deb6dd6942d0c28a08.jpg

I went the cheap route, and it didn’t turn out too bad. I think I’ve got the post on my page?!
I dyed my carpet with the clothing dye from Wally World. Hot water, due, and 2 medium bristle brushes. Deep clean after, way better than my crappy slate grey or whatever.
