Probably like many of you, the older V1's, of which I have two, were essentially useless to use in the trucks with Rear Blind Spot monitoring, etc. as the radar units would constantly set the V1 off on Ka band.
Well I checked with Valentine, and the newer units have software that 'ignores' the type of Ka frequency used by the blind spot monitoring systems. My V1 was in fact old enough that it was recommended that I simply trade it in for a brand new unit, which I did for $300.
The new unit which I installed using my existing Savvy accessory and running the power cable up the left side trim to the left of the rear view mirror, took all of about 5 minutes max and works perfectly. No false alarms either from my truck or others around me; I couldn't be happier. Definitely look into this if the V1 is your detector of choice and if it doesn't have the latest ESP software package.
