Road trip in high milage Yukon?

I did a 15hr trip from NY to Florida and had my belts changed besides that it was a great smooth ride. I'll be doing it again tomorrow going back to NY. Packed with luggage, wife and 3 kids one way was less then $300 in gas. Worth the trip I think.

any repairs that needed to be done were done were done in a timely manner id feel completely confident to take it on a road trip even if it had 300k miles

I wouldn't mind taking mine on trips. I've driven 8+ hrs trips no problem but I did h e engine and turns rebuilt and built strong anything under 6hrs is a small drive lol no sweat
I wanna do a 18hr drive but doubt I'd be there long so it's not worth it

My 04 yukon has 228000 miles and I just had to change the waterpump. I replaced the battery with a yellow top Optima. Other than that No real issues to mention and I would drive it cross country. I do however keep a small variety of tools fuses tire plugs small compressor it all fits in the stash spot in the back. just always try to be as prepared as you can for anything.

yes, air compressor or even manual pump and plugs are golden. You can fix a flat in less time than it would to find a garage, and wait for them to fix it.

looks like I got my answer today, Yukon quit on me. I believe it is the fuel pump. Hesitated a few times going down the road pulled over and it died when stopped, wouldn't start. let it sit awhile and tried to crank it, ran maybe 2-5 seconds and died.

Did you try the 'hitting the tank with a 2x4' trick? Also curious to know if you heard the hum of the bad fuel pump prior as some people say.

Didn't hear any hum when it died, fuel pressure was at 20psi. So new pump and filter went in.

did you do yourself or did you have mechanic do it? if so, how much does that job cost?
