what are you thinking is wrong with it?

new bearings, seals, and regear was only like 375$ when i did mine, thats with them pulling it and me providing parts.

granted it didnt last but like a month but not sure if that was my own fault :D

Anybody know the go-to for front diffs? I see RA has A1 Cardone remans for $815 plus $130 core. Not sure if there are better places to go or if I should get this one rebuilt locally if possible.

Be careful where you get it rebuilt, not everyone can rebuilt these diffs. I learned the hard way. DONOT BUY USED DIFFS, I see you are a wrencher why don't you try rebuilding it yourself?

Well hell never mind. So much for diagnosing without an inspection. I just broke a CV joint and tore the boot so I lost a bit of gear oil, nothing major. I ordered a new axle assembly from RA and a couple quarts of oil. I’m kinda embarrassed I didn’t manage to break anything major lol. Weakest link broke instead. I guess I’m lucky.

Nah, I actually drove quite a few blocks but the sound of the axle banging around combined with the oil leaking kinda made me stop. Looks like it’s just the cv joint probably from a wot-in-reverse move that I’m sure squatted the front of the truck down and placed the thing at a bad angle and that combined with a bit of power and torque did it in. I heard a bit of tire spin, probably from the rears as the weight transferred forward until the TC moved the power to the front and broke the CV. Every other WOT launch has always been in forward so this was a bit weird. Kinda fun though. I was amazed how well it drove in reverse. @ivin74 i hadn’t even thought about replacing both at 170k but you’re right. I didn’t really want to spend another $280 but I went ahead and ordered a second one. I do have to drain the diff so that’s $50 worth of fluids and I might as well do both at the same time.
