I don't know if you'd wanna geek out on it, but I'd get the volume of that enclosure and add a tuned port before installing it if the numbers all worked out. Get more bang for the buck with less power. I have a 5" sub in my work van (Transit 250) in a 1/2" plywood box with a slot port tuned to 45Hz on about 120 watts from a cheap Power Acoustik (turned way down, of course). It fills the cabin nicely, rattles my radar detector on the windshield, vibes the passenger seat cushion and even gently pats your chest on a fairly wide range of notes.

The driver is from a passive subwoofer from a cheap Sony home theater setup. I found it in the parking lot one night at Petco. My guess is someone took it out of their trunk to carry a large bag of food or kennel or something and left it. The sub looked pretty decent with a nice magnet, neoprene surround and lots of excursion, so I pulled it and trashed the thin particle board cube.

I assume you are talking about Rodney's boxes. He is the one I bought my box from that is between the buckets of the second row.

I wonder how much extra space you have under the console since you don't have the factory Bose amp taking up space under there?

I was just thinking, if you needed/wanted some extra air space in the enclosure, that Rodney could probably accommodate you as he is pretty easy to deal with.

It sounds like you already have the air space you need for the sub you chose though.

Just thinking out loud so to speak.
Yes, Rodneys boxes. Thanks to you I went back and saw in his listing that he offers to match the box to the sub or change carpet color. I just messaged him to see if he can match it exactly to the sub. Of course I mentioned his box will be in my build thread here. JL does suggest .55 cu ft and his box is the same as my MTX Thunderform in the Denali, .48. The JL hits real hard in the Thunderform and shakes The Beast pretty good so I’m sure it will perform real good in his box too but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

That’s ok, I’ll go with what I know works for me. I want a 10” JL and some power. I’ve built boxes with tuned ports before but in order to get a box this small to work ported isn’t in my plans, I would end up with a small sub and even though I might get ok results I don’t think it would be what I want. I want something I know is a sure thing. If I had more room I’d go ported but this must be stealth, inside the console. And ***** already ordered, I’m past the age of waiting for things lol.

I have started on rear the seats as far as disassembly goes. They’re pretty simple and a good design. I just had to remove a few plastic trim pieces from the bottom areas by the hinges, pop off a few plastic trees, unzip some Velcro or zippers and the foam with covers attached just slid off the frame. The covers are attached to the foam with Velcro at the inside creases. Easy.

He seems like a good guy. He modified mine to fit the Burb. It worked out good for both of us because prior to mine he only had the specs to build one to fit the floor of a Tahoe.

He even gave me a discount for doing the leg work of measuring the stuff for him.

I'm certain he can accommodate your requests.

Well he just got back to me and his box doesn’t occupy the space where the Bose amp resides. But he said I’m running the same sub that JL uses in their stealth box and his is nearly identical so it should be fine and sound great. BTW that Stealthbox is $720 shipped so I’m saving almost $400 doing it this way. ;)

I finally got a tracking number from LKQ on the console, it shipped today. It will be here a week from today. The Katzkins will be here tomorrow, the sub on Sunday, the carpet and mats next Monday, the amp next Wednesday and the sub enclosure hasn’t shipped yet. So it will all work out pretty good, ill install the leather, then the carpet, then wire in the amp and wires for the sub, then hopefully by then the enclosure will be here so I can install that and the console.

Don't the console mounts go under the seat mounts?

*Edit*

I guess it doesn't matter. Not your daily driver. :D
