My neighbor bought a ‘14 Silverado WT and has been attempting to do some stuff to it. I thought he was doing a lot of work since he’s been working on it for 4-5 days but he only installed a roll pan, chrome tow hooks, chrome grill and chrome wheels. Yech. I stopped by today to see what his plans were and to see about snatching the rear bumper. He said he is having a shop lower it 7/4 (we will see) and he wants to bag it. Then he said he wants to eventually get it down like mine. I just smiled and said cool. The guy doesn’t have a clue on how to do anything and you can see from how he removed the rear bumper. He said he had to cut it all up to remove it and I’m like wtf. He was going to take it to the dump so it was free. The idiot cut through the plastic step pads instead of popping them off. But the rest is fine, so I’ll just have the chrome stripped and PTM and buy new step pads. It has 2 tiny dents that I’ll fill after it’s stripped. I have been looking on eBay and wrecking yards and they want anywhere between 300-500 for one of these. It’s a spring project though. The price was right.

Nice score . I’m not really a fan of the step bumpers anymore , too much going on . I like your current bumper ... smooth and simple and clean.

Made a deal in an 87 C10 for a project. Plans are for a full custom frame, bodied, bagged with an LS swap. First I’ll need to get it into my backyard which won’t be easy, I’ll need to do a pass-thru in my garage with a second overhead door out the back. This will be a long project. Trucks in pretty decent shape very tiny amount of rust in the door jambs up high. Rockers and floor pans are all good. The 350 has about 11k on it and I’m selling that to another neighbor for $300 because he found the truck for me. The guy wanted $1500 but I made a deal for $1000 so it will cost me $700 after I sell the engine.

That’s not a bad price for a solid looking truck . The obs rear bumper is not a good look on there lol. Hard to tell in the pics, is it a short bed ? Super jelly

I actually decided to hold off on buying that truck. I decided I needed to have a place to work on a project before actually starting a project so I used that as motivation to start on my garage rebuild. First goal is make it a pass- thru and Sheetrock it, build a new workbench, organize everything. Then install a second overhead door on the back wall and finally build a small shop in the backyard.

That’s a good size project in itself. Hard to pass up that truck but gotta do the garage first. Just shows it wasn’t meant to be at this time. You’ll find something , especially in OR. When I visit family there i see so many potential projects and barn finds all over the place.

So I went to make my weekly grocery run yesterday and the battery was dead. As in wouldn’t even unlock the doors dead. So I hooked up the charger and last night I noticed a glow from inside the cab- the stereo was on. I had to manually power it down for it to shut off. It looked like something in the BCM tune was keeping it alive. It got me to thinking about that peculiar feature that cropped up after the tune from BT Dieselworks where the stereo stayed on for a minute or two after I removed the keys and opened the door. Maybe it was now keeping the stereo on all the time, draining the battery. So last night I emailed Ben Tyler and asked him. Amazingly he emailed me back this morning and this is what he said:

“Mark-

Updated tune file is attached. The problem is technically due to the fact that you have an aftermarket radio. The aftermarket radio adapters have pretty sloppy programming, so with the "extended accessory power" feature enabled in the BCM tune, thats probably why the battery went dead.

I disabled that enhanced feature in this second revision of the BCM tune here.”

Ben”

So that extended time after the door was opened was a feature he turned on, even though it was never mentioned. Kinda bothers me that he never mentioned it before- I wouldn’t have had it turned on. Now I have to re-flash the BCM.

Nice. And he blames an aftermarket stereo for his change. [emoji107][emoji3166]

That’s annoying. I hate finding and dealing with careless service , it happens almost daily to me I swear. I’m sure he forgot to mention it , but I guess I just expect people to do 100% of their job like I do at mine.
I’d be pissed
