Newbie, so I apologize if this is a regular topic...
2007 yukon xl 2500 4x4
I am looking to fabricate my own roof rack (safari basket style) and I have only found mounting brackets that are used to mount to the factory tracks.
1. I feel like the tracks are fairly week and unsure if they can support a load over 200 lbs.... which I believe is factory limit? but maybe that is because the roof top can not support more than that?
2. I would think the tracks could be removed and a custom rack could be mounted directly to the threaded holes that are used to mount the tracks, however I can not find ANY videos, pictures or posts that shows this for a yukon or suburban 2002 or newer.
Any ideas, past experience, or limitations would be greatly appreciated.
