Running board question

I'm wanting to sand these down and paint them with something like a spray on bedliner or something to stand up to rock chips. How do I get these plastic foot steps off?

I don't have these, but have you tried to just pop them out? Might have tabs underneath holding them to the metal bar, from inside. Try sticking a thin flat bar or flat head screw driver between the plastic and metal and prying it up, little by little. Just be careful not to break the plastic step pads.

Inside Clips and high strength adhesive hold them suckers on, try a heat gun before prying, have gorilla glue handy for reassemble

Is it the little plastic side skirt or the actual nerf bar you're trying to get off? If its the plastic there are a bunch of push pins along the bottom that you'll have to pop out and then it slides up and off. Its on a little hanger-like thing. Not to hi-jack but does anyone know where i can get REPLACEMENT plastic side skirts just like the OE ones? I pulled them off to flexidip and the dog chewed them to shit lmao.
