so my mountaineer is awd and i blew a tire so i put a new set of tires on it today. funds are semi tight atm but i was actually pushing this off for longer than i should with a mismatched tire on an awd. anyway after doing my internet pricing +obvious install fee then calling around to some local shops. made an appt at a local shop to have a new set of tires put on. i actually went there for a lighter at style tire but due to miss inventory i ended up going with a different tire. guy at the shop talked it up so wth as long as i get a year from them i dont care. he showed me the tire and i was convinced id be immediately telling them to take them back off. 20200808_160008.jpg s-l400-3.jpg
was sure they would sing like a mf. so far up to 60mph they are very quiet. thunderer ranger atr 246 65 17. ill try to remember to post updates if i notice anything.

I almost bought a set of those - love the tread pattern design - tough tires...what load range did you get?

i want to say 107 or 111 something like that. barely noticeable vs the goodyear trailmarks that were on my mountaineer when i bought that. i dont like goodyear tires in general but i wasn't planning on replacing them so soon.

posting an update on these tires
so far still quiet after a chunk of miles i didn't pay attention to the mileage when i put them on but almost due for my next oil change so should be a few thousand. tires are wearing evenly and ride great and dont seem to be losing tread aggressively. was a little concerned with that as with typical more aggressive tires. had some snow and i played a little in an unplowed parking lot and aside from the extra resistance of going through the snow truck doesn't even notice. fyi tho this mountaineer is awd so plays a big factor on my grip vs a 2wd or regular 4wd vs an awd.
